Job Description
The District Manager (DM) will be part of a large dynamic Field Sales organization that provides services and support to grocery chain stores as well as independents and major national accounts. The DM is accountable for the implementation and direction of programs and policies which will maximize sales within a specific geographic area of responsibility. The DM confers with the Regional Manager to establish sales objectives for each territory in the division.
 
The DM supervises and motivates Sales Representatives to encourage attainment of sales quotas, ensuring that his/her district contributes an appropriate share to overall growth criteria of the company.  Additionally, is responsible for hiring, addressing performance issues, completing performance appraisals, conducting work-withs in the field with Sales Representatives and the completion of special tasks or projects as assigned.
 
The DM is expected to maintain updated knowledge of buyer habits, market trends and development of competitors and must relay this information to interested parties in the company.
 
The geographic area of this territory includes Kansas City, Iowa, and Nebraska. There are approximately 14 sales reps reporting to this DM.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3 years’ experience selling in a wholesale environment to grocery, drug and mass merchant accounts
  • Previous experience managing a group of people in remote locations
  • Moderate knowledge of technology
  • Able to bend, reach, twist/rotate, stoop, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must live within the territory - Kansas City and surrounding suburbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ degree
  • 5+ years’ experience selling in a wholesale environment to grocery, drug, and mass merchant accounts
  • Accounting knowledge
  • Experience in consumer product goods industry strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven success making effective sales presentations
  • Works well independently with minimal supervision
Additional Details
  • Must be able to travel within specific geographic territory (up to 8 overnight stays per month)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable drivers check
