Summary:

 

Imagine working for a company where you lead the team that repairs the equipment which manufactures Russell Stover’s premium chocolate?  In this role, you will coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities in order to meet production requirements, partnering with Production, Engineering and Quality Assurance team members and others.  You will provide direction to the Maintenance team to ensure that the reliability, dependability, and accuracy of the production manufacturing equipment is maintained. As a people leader at Russell Stover, you will be responsible for supporting and developing potential future leaders for the organization through coaching, direction setting and development opportunities while increasing the Maintenance and chocolate knowledge within the Maintenance department.

This person is also responsible for assessing, analyzing and implementing facility projects or efficiency improvements on a project basis.  In addition, this person is responsible for identifying, hiring and monitoring outside contractors to ensure that all campus facilities, grounds and office areas are efficiently and cost effectively maintained.

 

This position, by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, is responsible for recommending, developing, implementing and managing safety, quality and food safety on all product lines.

 

Scope of Responsibilities:

Foster a Safe Working Environment

  • Eliminate lost time accidents in the maintenance shop
  • Maintain safety procedures when working with equipment and machinery
  • Conduct periodic Lock-out Tag-out audits
  • Conduct weekly departmental safety meetings
  • Work with Quality Assurance / Improvement to ensure that property complies with Risk Management and OSHA requirements

Team Development

  • Lead crew of 60 individuals (3 shift operation)
  • Set direction, develop and coach Maintenance team
  • Provide on-going training to increase individual skill level
  • Distribute work load based on formal work orders and P.M.'s
  • Develop sense of urgency and methodology on correcting unexpected machinery breakdowns

Plan and Organization

  • Assist Operations group in meeting / exceeding production goals by increasing machinery efficiency
  • Manage formal P.M. program to ensure machine dependability
  • Maintain spare parts inventory program
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work and preventative maintenance
  • Manage plant work order system
  • Responsible for the repair of production equipment in a timely, efficient manner, minimizing machine down-time; Order and maintain stock supply of equipment parts in an effort to minimize machinery down-time and ensure timely repair, when necessary.  Manage the department budget within established guidelines and objectives.

Departmental Budget

  • Participate in long-term capital planning
  • Control maintenance department budget

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in LPW
  • Implement TPM
  • In Depth understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals
  • Strong analytical skills and in depth understanding of statistical probability

Education and Work Experience:

  • BS Degree in either Mechanical, Civil, Electric or Chemical Engineering or 8 to 10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
