Description

Position Purpose

The Director, Commercial Finance will be the strategic partner and lead the finance teams for the commercial departments; providing support and guidance for all financial aspects of their business units to ensure a high degree of financial oversight, cost optimization, planning and analysis. This is a role that is externally focused and enables the Sales, Marketing and Retail teams to accelerate profitable topline growth. The candidate needs to have strong analytical skills, business acumen, and strong communication skills. This position will work within the finance department and report to the CFO with a high level of exposure to Senior Management including the VP of Sales, VP of Marketing, VP of Innovation and the VP of Retail.

Essential Job Functions/Key Accountabilities

  • Development and Implementation of process improvements in the areas of trade spend management.
  • Manage trade spending analysis and work with account managers and directors to eliminate waste and increase return on promotional investment.
  • Recommend actions to improve product mix, gross margin, as well as customer profitability.
  • Present analytical information and company action plans to all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze monthly variances vs plan, communicate results to management team, and recommend interventions to ensure target delivery.
  • Support key finance / company-wide planning processes including:
    • Annual Budget and Estimates throughout the year
    • Monthly Rolling Net Sales Forecasts
    • Support of Marketing Plan Dialogue (MPD) & Sales Plan Dialogue (SPD)
  • Support the preparation of customer negotiations with financial analysis, including financial modelling for new products in the organization.
  • Responsible for all month-end accounting activities ensuring accuracy of Profit & Loss (P&L) accounts as well as Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Creates ad hoc reports as needed by supported departments and Finance Senior Management.
  • Leading and developing a team of Sales Analysts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years Finance Management experience
  • 3+ years experience leading or managing teams
  • FMCG / CPG experience
  • Strong Sales Finance and Trade finance experience
  • Experience leading or managing teams
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong understanding of Databases and Business Intelligence Tools (SAP BI, Hyperion, Cognos preferred)
  • Willingness to drive and implement change
  • Team player who leads by example

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 10+ years of Finance Management experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing teams
  • CPA
  • SAP experience (S4 / Hana preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills and technical ability
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to lead informal teams
  • Proven track record of developing high potential talent
