Position Summary:
The Planner of Inbound Domestic Transportation will plan and oversee all activities related to scheduling and reporting transportation movement of supplies and finished product.  The domestic inbound planner will interface with our plants, distribution centers (DCs), and transportation providers to coordinate and control product flow, as well as meet internal and external customer delivery requirements for service and cost.

Essential Functions:
  • Uses knowledge of transit time, carrier base, and cost to determine how and when to assign our refrigerated carriers to daily shipments; adjusts pickup and delivery dates as needed to fit transit schedule
  • Works with plants & customer service team to ensure product is being released and shipped in a timely manner
  • Effectively and proactively communicates with the brands, plants, DCs, carriers and customers
  • Works daily within our Transportation Management System (TMS) for scheduling, reporting, and analytics
  • Monitors carrier performance and follows up with carriers when improvements are needed
  • Approves upcharges and additional costs with carriers when needed
  • Takes on special projects and duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements - Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics
  • Experience in consumer-packaged goods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Transportation / Logistics Leadership management experience
  • Working knowledge of Transportation Management System (TMS)
  • Experience in refrigerated transportation, both private fleet and truckload
  • Experience in less-than-truckload transportation
  • Ability to prioritize and organize assignments
  • Strong analytical skills
